A Note From the Author

Dear Rudd Cousins,

I’m in the process of editing and updating some of the narratives you will find in the archives. They represent my research of the Burlingham Rudd family. I have moved them to the archives because I am now writing the history of the family as I know it. So the narratives dated 2011 represent my rewrite with updated information. As I add to the series, I will be taking down the relevant narrative in the archives.

Blogs are formatted to read from the bottom up, so the beginning is at the end... so to speak. To read the story of the Burlingham Rudd family in chronological order ... from the beginning, use the link to the Table of Contents in the right-side panel.

I hope you enjoy!

Linda Rudd

Hi Cousin Amity, you crazy girl! (I just read your blog and yes, I can relate!)

Stay tuned! It will take me some time to get thru the story but I do promise to get there!

To follow up on David Rudd's query above, and for those Charleston area Rudd cousins, David's line comes down thru Eli (likely pronounced E-Lee) Rudd and Mary Ann Mizell to Hartwell Green Rudd and Rodella Whaley to Gordon Monroe Rudd and Margaret Curtis to his daddy then to David. So this is the George Lounsdell Rudd branch but there is not a clear link yet between Eli Rudd and George Lounsdell Rudd. I plan to talk us thru the possibilities in the near future.

I'm Susan Octavia Rudd and come down the Elias David, Elias Trowell, Henry Samuel Rudd, Leb G. Rudd, Hayward Leb Rudd line. I, too, have written a book "20 Faces and Places: A History of the Founding Families on the Ochlocknee River". I'm in the process of a rewrite but this will be a narrative style with emphasis on how the families lived more than the geneology as the last one was.
The Rudds were one of many families traveling to this area, the Gatlins and Allen all came from the same area in SC and settled on the banks of the Ochlocknee River via Dale and Coffee County, Alabama. So I have an idea of the time and drudgery it took to compile the information you have on the Rudd family. I'm impressed. I know I uncovered a lot of dust bunnies to get the information I found as well as Jim Rudd's generous help. If I can help you with my line at all, I'll be glad to. It gets a little confusing when Henry married Samuel Jackson's daughter Laura Lavonia. Given the Seth and Nancy marriage, I count my fingers and toes each morning.
